2.2.1.1 mkftools Script

All of the necessary setup for using the FTOOLS can be conducted under the control of a script file provided with this release of FTOOLS. The required script is located in the ~ftools/ftools/bin.host directory and is called mkftools. Check with the system administrator for the exact location of this script and the FTOOLS executables. This is all that the user needs to know before using this script. The easiest way to use the script is to copy it over to your user directory.

1.0cm >cp ~ftools/ftools/bin.host/mkftools .

Then just execute the script by typing its name.

The script will instruct you on how to give it the proper arguments for your local setup. Type mkftools again with the appropriate argument for your site. The mkftools script will then step you through the process of building a script file called .ftools that will exist in your home directory and be executed at login. This script will also add the necessary line to .login to source the file at login time. Note that this script should only be run once and all previous FTOOLS setup should be removed from the user's login scripts to localize any potential problems.
